Living in a hotel with two children makes for some stressful and forgetful moments in the lives of mommy and daddy. Needless to say, we are going to screw up occasionally.:-)
After Bubba's "episode" in my car at Target, David decided I had been through enough for the day. He took us out to eat in his new work truck when he got off training for the day. It was GREAT! The boys LOVE that daddy drives a big F 150. It is a great vehicle to have right now because it even has a topper so we will be able to move our things without a tarp! So exciting.
After eating at a very quiet restaurant (BTW, this is NOT advised if you are currently living in a hotel and your children have not had a chance to get their energy out for the day), we returned to the hotel to release our kids on the hill again for some bedtime sprints. We were outside for about an hour and the end result was what we had hoped for. We had two sweaty, sleepy, exhausted kiddos. We took them in for a bath and put them to bed. YAY! A successful night after a long day!
The next morning David got up and did not need us to take him to work. Having his work truck made things much easier as the boys and I didn't have to be dressed to take him early in the morning!!! It was a great start to a day that we were looking forward to! We were going to go meet up with our friend Krista (a girl I had babysat for who now has her own children, we will discuss how old this makes me feel later) and her two children! We were pumped because we were meeting at a bouncy house called Monkey Joes!
As I was getting the boys dressed for our adventure something hit me. The night before we had been in David's truck, we had come back and just gotten out to let the kids run! WE HAD NOT TRANSFERRED THE CAR SEATS BACK TO MY CAR!!!!
Crap!
Shoot!
Dang it!
WHAT AM I GONNA DO?
Ok, don't panic Missi, you have plenty of time for David to bring the seats back before you have to leave. Krista will understand if you are 15 min late, no worries!
I called David and said, "You didn't by any chance take the car seats out before you left did you?"
(silence)
Hello?
(silence)
"David, do you have the car seats???"
"Yes, I totally forgot about them. I"m so sorry! And I just started a new training that I can't leave right now! I'm so sorry!!!"
Crap
Shoot
Dang it!
Again, I'm a mommy, I can get this figured out. First thing to do, text Krista and tell her the situation. She gets it. As a military wife, she TOTALLY understands chaos. (I was right, she understood) :-)
After some careful consideration (not gonna lie, duct taping them to the car came up in my ideas) I figured the best thing to do was wait till David could save us. I just couldn't think of a better option. By some awesome twist of chance he was able to meet us just before I had to leave to stay on schedule. Whew, back on track. We loaded up in the seats and were on our way.
We met up with Krista and her two sweet girls and began what would be a very interesting hour. Jeffrey had a blast. He powered his way through the bus load of big kids at summer camp. Naomi (Krista's oldest daughter) also powered her way through the big kids. There were a couple "issues" with emotions but all in all she and Jeffrey did VERY well considering how many school age kids were running around like it was an African Safari.
Bubba on the other hand, well, yeah.
Bubba, what do you say about Bubba?
Bubba wasn't thrilled about all the big kids so instead of playing he decided to try out for the Olympic Track and Field Team. He began figure 8ing through all the bouncy houses while I tried to chase him. Now, had I been smart I would have worn tennis shoes. However, I never claimed to be smart, just awesome:-). My flip flops were no match for his speedy little feet wearing his speedy little socks. He was a beast. He zigged and I zagged. He went left just as I turned to go right. He was unstoppable! I was a mess! Finally, at the end of an hour after several tearful moments from the older two we decided we would try our odds at Chick fil a where the space was smaller and running was more contained.
All was well. We landed at Chick fil a, ate a yummy lunch, and played, yelled, screamed, scooted and then hugged goodbye. It was a great ending to a fast paced, chaotic day. YAY, and we all survived. So thankful for friends who are flexible when my world doesn't work out quite how I think it will.
Day 5 adventure: success (plus I got my work out in while chasing Bubba so it was a super success!)
