On the Road Again (Stinky Shoes and So Much More)

So our first day of being "Hotel Dwellers" we chose to go visit our sweet friends Tom and Betsy Gill who live in State College, PA.  The boys and I took David to work and headed off on our little mini adventure.  It was  GREAT day of playing with friends, eating a picnic, and yelling loud outside.  What more could a little person ask for?

Well, one of the little people IS Bubba soooo......

yeah

ummmmm

There was a water table.  It was a nice little water table and it held a purpose: lift water up off the ground so kids could play and explore!  That wasn't enough for Bubba, he wanted to swim in the water table.  Bless his heart, he climbed up on and sat right down in the middle of the table.  At first I didn't think anything about it until we got in the car and I realized how wet his shoes got.

Not just wet.....

REALLY WET, SOPPY, SLUSHY, RETAINING WATER

Now at home I have plenty of tools to help me get shoes clean but living in a hotel has it's limits.  I really had no idea what to do with these shoes.

I put them on top of the AC unit and left them there for a few hours.  We went shopping and came back to a room that smelled like stinky feet.  NOT GOOD.  We went back to the store and bought Fabreeze and then made our room smell better.  (but it did not help the shoes that still had little puddles inside them)

I put washcloths inside the shoes to hopefully sop up the water, but it only made the washcloths smell.

I tried hanging them on our baithing suit hanger, but it only made the floor wet under and the shoes were still wet.

After 2 days of attempting to save the shoes I realized they had molded.  Yep MOLDED!!!!  Oh my word.  We officially had no good shoes for Bubba to wear while on this trip.  Back to the store we go and let's buy some shoes.:/

We were able to replace his shoes with Lightening McQueen shoes so that made him happy.  His new shoes also light up when he walks so in his world this was a WINNING moment.;-)

Day one of our adventure: success (not a success for the shoes thrown away in a hotel dumpster, moment of silence for the service they held to our family)
