So for our second day of adventures the boys and I were able to meet up with my former roomie Amy and her sweet daughter "Penny" (who is much like Bubba on the "terrorizing the world with mess" end of the spectrum). The 5 of us arranged to meet up at a Children's Museum called the Hands on House in Lancastaer, PA. Yay!!!
So the boys and I arrive at the designated meeting place and I get out of the car only to remember that the day before Bubba had drowned his shoes on a water table. I TOTALLY forgot that he needed shoes. It is proper to wear shoes when you go out in public. FAIL!!! Luckily we were a bit on the early side (4 whole min) and I had noticed a CVS Pharmacy close to the museum. I texted Amy and told her we would be there soon but we had to go find Bubba shoes.
My idea was that most pharmacies carry flip flops in the summer section and I was hoping to find him some cheap little shoes to carry us through the few hours we would be playing. This was just meant to be a quick fix.
We went into the store and I quickly realized that maybe most pharmacies don't have a shoe section the way they do in FL. Hmmm, I might have forgotten what it is like to be out of FL. We stood in the summer section and all I could find was a pair of water shoes 3 sizes to big. I looked for socks and realized that my only option was the big water shoes. Well, he had to have shoes, these were all that were available and so this is what we would do!
WE ARE SURVIVORS AND WE WILL OVERCOME THE SHOELESS BUBBA MOMENTS!
While standing and waiting to purchase the shoes Amy and Penny walked in to greet us. After evaluating the situation Amy realized that these shoes are going to get Bubba nowhere fast (which now that I think about it that could be a good thing) and so she offered Penny's socks to him. If he had socks he could wear the cheap pair of crocs from Walmart that gave him blisters! Socks would prevent the blisters, he would be wearing shoes his size and all would be well in the world (as long as you don't judge him for wearing white socks with frills on top while wearing black Lightening McQueen crocs)
So after sorting out the shoe issue we had a GREAT DAY! The kids LOVED playing together and exploring. There was an adventure around every corner and if you are in the Lancaster, PA area I STRONGLY suggest that you visit the Hands on House. I also hear it is near a farm restaurant where you can see animals!
Our day was great and we made some wonderful memories. We ended with some play time at Chick fil a and then said our goodbyes. Being the awesome person she is, Amy had gifts for us. Almost like she lived with me or something, she gave me some Starbucks and then gave both boys an awesome travel coloring book with markers. Now we have played with these before and I"m usually very smart about how I monitor Bubba with his markers. I guess this trip removed all my smart.
Upon arriving at the hotel after playing at the museum I gave the boys their gift and somehow fell asleep for 3 whole min!!! WHAT WAS I THINKING????? I was woken up by a smurf. One of the Blue Man Group Trainees woke me from my nap. I was staring in the face of a little boy who had taken the blue marker and colored his body. Oh my. I learned my lesson! Needless to say, he had marks on him for a good 5 days till the combinations of clothes rubbing on him and daily bath time finally removed the remaining marks. OH my.
Day two of the adventure: success (minus the fact that my child looked like a smurf for 5 days)
