After a few eventful days on the road, playing with friends, and seeing the state of PA we took a day to get things together for our upcoming trip to Kentucky. The boys and I made a shopping list and prepared to head to Target to get all the supplies we needed. (You know what supplies I'm talking about; chips, crackers, goldfish, gummies, water bottles and shoes for Bubba)
As if it were a normal day we loaded up in the car, took David to work and went straight to Target which was extremely close to his job (yay!!!). We pulled into the parking lot and that's when I heard the noise that makes my body cringe.
" MOMMY I TWOW UP!!!" BLAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
Oh my word. Seriously???
I looked in the rear view mirror and saw little Bubba sitting there all messy BUT, bless his heart, he was holding the iPad in the air making sure to save it from the mess. (he is his father's child, even during a bad second in life he had the presence of mind to save the technology)
I immediately pulled over in the parking lot and began the work needed to "fix" everything. That's when I realized that I had not replaced my back up outfit from our last episode. I had NOTHING in the car to change him into.
Stink!
What was I going to do??
I looked around and saw a hoodie of mine from a walk we had gone on a few days prior. I stripped the poor kid down to his pull ups and put my pink and black hoodie on him. Bless his heart. I got the car to the point that I was able to walk away and off we went into the store to do what I could to make this go away.
Side note: thankful for those big family bathrooms at Target because I can actually roll a cart into the bathroom and there is a place for Jeffrey to stand while I work with Bubba in the cart
We went into the family bathroom and cleaned Bubba up as best I could in a small sink.
Jeffrey kept asking (very loudly)
" IS BUBBA GONNA TROW UP AGAIN??? IT IS SO STINKY AND SMELLY! IT MAKES ME WANNA SAY EEWWWWW REALLY LOUD AND GO RUNNING AROUND HIDING MY NOSE!!!"
Nothing like a child to embarrass you really loudly in public:-)
After cleaning up and getting ourselves together we ventured out into the store to buy a new outfit, Fabreeze, towels for him to sit on, Clorox wipes, and all the other stuff on our shopping list. Needless to say, it was an odd assortment of "things".
I'm pretty sure that this time I have been given with these kids is on God's DVR and He watches it over and over like a Chris Farly movie. I just know He is laughing and saying, "THIS IS GREAT ENTERTAINMENT!" I also know that these years are numbered and so I love to embrace all the good times we have and the memories we make. Even in the midst of cleaning out my car in the middle of the Target parking lot I know that these are memories I will cling to as I watch these boys drive off to college.:-)
Adventure day 3: success (unless you are Bubba's car seat or his clothes, not a good day to be his wardrobe)
