Christmas Countdown

So the other day I was reading a post by a friend who was talking about her countdown calendar for Christmas. She said she had filled it with candy from the "after Halloween sale" and was so excited to get it so cheap! At that point I was a little bit jealous that I didn't think of something like that on my own. Oh well, I didn't and all the Halloween candy is gone so be done with it. I really wanted to do something for Jeffrey though so I found some envelopes that were extra and here is what we did!

I had him help me decorate 24 envelopes with some leftover Christmas stickers from another craft project. I also wrote a big number (1-24) on each in a red marker to indicate which envelope is next to open. After everything was nice and pretty I took post it notes and wrote one fun or special thing on each. (for example: date with daddy, ice cream cone, extra bedtime story, etc.) I put one note in each envelope and then took ribbon and strung it from one side of the bookshelf to the other. I hung the envelopes on the ribbon using the flaps and holding them down with a piece of tape. Now Jeffrey will be able to remove one envelope a day and get a special treat plus it helps with our countdown and number recognition. Each day we will be able to count the envelopes and now we have a visual representation on how many more days till Christmas! Hope you can use this idea! It is cheap and fun to decorate together. I'll post a picture as soon as my camera battery charges.:-)
