Today was Bubba's 15? 16? month visit at the doctor. Due to recent illnesses we were a little behind on shots and the doctor just wanted to make sure that things were going well now that we are in the world of being healthy! Have I told you before how much we love our doctor down here? The man is amazing! He is so patient and kind and really just loves kids. You can tell that this is the job he was made for.
I packed everyone up for our trip and off we went. We got there right on time and things were going very smooth. Bubba was put on the scale where he sat VERY still this time and weighed in at 23 pounds. He was a little over 32 inches tall and his head was 19 inches around. (please take notice to the round part of that word cause his noggen was anything BUT round this time last year.):-)
Everything was going great. The nurse gave Jeffrey a sucker to eat while he read his book and waited on Bubba, mommy wasn't at all stressed because everyone was cooperating and then it happened. The doctor came into the room and sat down. He looked at Bubba and said, "Hmmm, you are looking at me like you want to eat me. This could be an interesting sign for what we will experience today." For whatever reason the doctor felt that was the perfect time to pull out the stethoscope and listen to Bubba's heart and breathing. BIG mistake man, BIG mistake. Almost like it was a script for a movie, Bubba grabbed the thing and began to yell in the end. Needless to say, it took the doctor a couple min to regain his composure and his response was priceless. "Well, I guess I have no need to ask you how his lungs are. They sound very strong to me!" Wow, I was totally embarrassed. We had just permanently injured this man's hearing and he was so gracious. We did learn a very valuable lesson though. Mommy now holds Bubba's hands when we get our exam.:-)
