So it has been a few weeks since the story of Jesus loving chocolate milk and I don't know about you but I'm on pins and needles every Sunday hoping I get another explanation of a Bible story which has confused me for years. Sadly, I have not been able to get clear words out of Jeffrey enough to understand our last few weeks of church services, until this week. (insert dramatic music)
The paper given to me at pick up time this past week had verses leading you to read about Jesus' death and resurrection. Now I would never in a million years pretend to think I know everything about the Bible and every story but this one is a story that even non-believers know about. This is one that I totally remember and pretty sure I could retell accurately without help, however Jeffrey pointed out some parts that the authors of the Bible must have forgotten about. Here is what Jeffrey told me about the death and Resurrection of Christ.
"Well, you see Jesus had a friend and they ate food and then there was this donkey. The donkey went into a guy's house and ate some flowers and got in trouble! He got in a lot of trouble and moved his name to red! Then the donkey cried."
I asked Jeffrey if there was anything else about Jesus in the story and here is his reply....
"Well Jesus wasn't really in this story cause the donkey didn't want him to be. Jesus just ate with his friend and that is all he did."
I asked Jeffrey if Jesus rode the donkey or if the donkey belonged to Jesus.
"Well, (as you can see he starts most conversations with the word well) Jesus didn't know the donkey, they weren't friends. The donkey was just really hungry and came into the house and ate the flowers and then he cried."
So there you have it. Jesus wasn't actually a part of his own death and resurrection and some person had their flowers eaten by a donkey who then had to move his name to red. I feel so much better knowing this part of the story. Really answers questions that might have been brought up in another setting down the road.:-)
